Scriptures to Pray for Family, Psalm 3
I started praying Psalm 3 with my kids whenever they had nightmares and were afraid to go to bed at night. But it’s more than just a good “now I lay me down to sleep” psalm. It’s great to pray for whole families, missionaries, everybody really.
O Lord, how my adversaries have increased!
Many are rising up against me.
Many are saying of my soul,
“There is no deliverance for him in God.”
But You, O Lord, are a shield about me,
My glory and the One who lifts my head.
I was crying to the Lord with my voice,
And He answered me from His holy mountain.
I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the Lord sustains me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God!
For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek;
You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation belongs to the Lord;
Your blessing be upon Your people!
Lord God, we pray Psalm 3 for our families today. We say, ‘You, O Lord, are a shield about us. You are our glory and the lifter of our heads. We cry out to You, and You answer us. We have peaceful rest because of You. Whatever may rise against us, we will look to You for deliverance. Save us, O God! You are the One who smites our enemies. Destroy the threat against us. Salvation belongs to You. Bless us, Your people. Amen.’
